The first footage from the newPower Rangers moviewill be coming soon, but in the meantime, we have yet another new photo to get fans amped up for the long-awaited reboot. While it may not seem like a huge deal, fans of the original show will surely be excited to get a first glimpse at theRed Ranger’s Power Sword. The weapon has had a major redesign and the first picture has surfaced online.
The photo first surfaced on thePower Rangers NOWTwitter account, a fan account dedicated to all thingsPower Rangers. The original Power Sword had a similar looking blade, but beyond that, this new sword has had a very serious overhaul. The color scheme is very similar to the classic Power Sword, but this new one happens to look a lot more like the energy sword from the video gameHalothan it does the original weapon from the show. Most importantly, it does look pretty cool.
It seems likely that other redesigned weapons will be revealed soon since the Power Sword has made its way online. Not only that, but Lionsgate has announced that they will be bringingPower Rangersto New York Comic Con this weekend along with some footage, so we should expect to know a lot more about the reboot in the very near future. What we do know is that everything looks very sleek, metallic and colorful, based on every piece of marketing material we have seen from the movie so far. Especially the recent posters that were released which showed off the newZordsthat will be showcased inPower Rangers.
Not only is the movie going to feature a pretty hefty redesign of the classicPower Rangerslook, but it also features a prettyimpressive castthat seems to be getting more impressive by the minute. While thePower Rangersthemselves are being played by promising up-and-comers likeMe and Earl and the Dying Girl’sRJ Cyler, who is playing the Blue Ranger, the supporting cast is sure to inspire confidence in fans.Elizabeth Bankshas been tapped to play the villainRita Repulsa,Bill Haderwas recently announced as the voice of Alpha 5 andBryan Cranston, who did some voice work on the originalMighty Morphin Power Rangersshow, will be playing Zordon in this new version.
The other cast members who make up the newPower Rangersteam includeDarce Montgomeryas the Red Ranger,Naomi Scottas the Pink Ranger,Ludi Linas the Black Ranger andBecky Gas the Yellow Ranger.Power Rangersis being directed byDean Israeliteand is set for release on July 31, 2025.
