The originalSaved by the Bellfollowed a group of high school students led by blonde-haired schemerZack Morris. In the upcoming reboot, “California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many underfunded high schools, so he proposes they send the affected students to the most well-funded schools in the state - including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the privileged Bayside kids (who never have a problem that can’t be solved in twenty-two minutes) a much-needed dose of reality.”
Not every original cast member from the original version will be featured in theSaved by the Bellreboot.Dustin Diamondpublicly spoke about his desire to return for the reboot, telling TMZ in February that you “can’t haveSaved by the Bellwithout Screech.” The actor also pointed out that he appeared in not only every single episode of the original series, but also appeared in every episode ofbothof its spinoffs as well. Perhaps it’s because of his rocky history with his fellow cast members, but for whatever reason, NBCUniversal didn’t give him the call.
Lisa Turtle actressLark Voorhiesalso confirmed that she wouldn’t be a part of the newSaved by the Bell, speculating that she wasn’t invited to be a part of it because of her mental illness. “I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be part of theSaved by the Bellreunion, as well as other cast members' events. Yet of course, I also realized that having this puzzling disorder may have played a major part in that factual decision,” Voorhies said in February.
