Elizabeth Olsenreprises her role asScarlet Witchin next month’sCaptain America: Civil War. She was one of the standout new characters inAvengers: Age of Ultron, and joined the Avengers at the end of that sequel. Now, she is back to fight on the side ofTeam Captain America. Marvel and Disney have released a new featurette that focuses on the young woman’s powers and place in this latest story.

In a new EW expose, it is revealed that Scarlet Witch may be the one responsible fortriggering a major catastropheinCaptain America: Civil War, which has damaging results. It helps lead directly into the formation of theSokovia Accords, which outlaws any unsupervised superhero activity. Taking a stand against these Accords, Captain America and some of the other Avengers are forced to go on the run as they are hunted down by Tony Stark and his Team Iron Man.

InCivil War, we will meet a Wanda Maximoff who is still struggling to come to grips with her superpowers. She is fine-tuning her mystical red energy waves, trying to figure out how to use them without hurting innocent bystanders. This backfires, and she causes an accident during one of her first Avengers missions. This puts her in direct violation of the global superhero restrictions. Because of this, she has no choice but to resist Iron Man and join Team Cap.

In Marvel’sCivil War, Steve Rogers leads the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps, one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
