Star Trek: Picardwill premiere January 23rd, 2020 on CBS All Access. In addition, we have been given a new look at the highly anticipated series. Sir Patrick Stewart is reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard, the character he made famous inStar Trek: The Next Generationfor seven seasons. When the series was first announced,Star Trekfans lost their minds and nearly didn’t believe it and wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for the fact that Stewart was the one to deliver the news.

The premiere date and new trailer forStar Trek: Picardwere announced and introduced, respectively, by cast members Sir Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Harry Treadaway, and Evan Evagora. As for the exciting trailer,Star Trekfans were treated to their first look at Jonathan Frakes reprising his role as William Striker. In addition, never-before-seen footage of Brent Spiner as Data and Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine was revealed. This is exactly what hardcore fans have been waiting for.

While the first season ofStar Trek: Picardhas yet to debut, Sir Patrick Stewart has revealed that production on a second season could possibly begin shortly. “I am not giving up my stage work, though it may have to wait for now because there are three projects that I have finished,” said Stewart. As to what those projects are, he said, “two films and the TV series, which all need promotion.” Most importantly though, Stewart says, “So I am clearing the decks for that and then there is also the possibility of a secondPicardseries filming in March next year.”

Star Trek: Picardis set about 20 years after the events ofStar Trek: The Next Generation. Executive producer Akiva Goldman says, “Tonally, it’s a little bit of a hybrid… It’s slower, more gentle, more lyrical, more character-based.” This makes sense from what we have seen from the series thus far, which includes the first trailer that was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con over the summer.Star Trekfans are really looking forward to the debut of the new series and Sir Patrick Stewart seems to very pleased with what they have accomplished and is happy to be back as Jean-Luc Picard.
