Earlier this week, fans were given the unfortunate news that there will be nonew footagefromStar Wars: The Force Awakensat this weekend’s D23 Expo, which is currently taking place in Anaheim, California. We know that something will be revealed from this highly-anticipated adventure during the Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes: Live Action at The Walt Disney Studios panel, which takes place Saturday, August 15 at 10:30 AM in Hall D23, but we aren’t sure what it will be quite yet. The good news is, while we wait for that panel, Disney and LucasFilm have put a number of costumes fromStar Wars: The Force Awakenson display in the exhibition hall, which you can see in a number of photos fromIGNand other sources.
The photos feature actual costumes worn byJohn BoyegaasFinn,Daisy RidleyasReyandGwendoline ChristieasCaptain Phasma. We also get a look at the new First OrderStormtroopers, and the lovable ball droid BB-8. It isn’t known if any of these actors, or other stars ofStar Wars: The Force Awakenswill be present during this panel presentation, but we’ll find out for sure tomorrow.

There still isn’t a whole lot we know about the story, except that it takes place more than 30 years after the events ofStar Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. One of the most intriguing aspects of this story is the emergence of The First Order, which appears to be based on the same model used by the Empire to rule the galaxy decades ago. This evil entity seemingly rose out of the ashes of the Galactic Empire, with a First Order toy description from Comic-Con revealing that these Stormtroopers were spread out across the galaxy when the Empire fell, and the rise of the First Order will usher in a new era of ruthless brutality.
TheStar Wars: The Force Awakenscast includesCarrie Fisheras Princess Leia,Harrison Fordas Han Solo,Mark Hamillas Luke Skywalker,Adam Driveras Kylo Ren,Oscar Isaacas Poe Dameron,Domhnall Gleesonas General Hux,Lupita Nyong’oas Maz Kanata andAndy Serkisas Supreme Leader Snoke. Out of all these characters, none are more shrouded in mystery than Luke Skywalker, who hasn’t even been shown yet in the first two trailers. There have been plenty of rumors about what this beloved character has been up to for the past 30 years, but we likely won’t find out for sure until December 18.

Other Disney movies such asAlice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass,The Jungle Bookand Marvel’sCaptain America: Civil Warwill also be featured during Saturday’s massive panel, so be sure to stay tuned for updates on those projects. What do you hope will be revealed fromStar Wars: The Force Awakens? The first poster? Our first look at Luke Skywalker? Let us know what you think after checking out these new photos from the D23 floor.
