Boardwalk Empirestar and beloved actorSteve Buscemihas becomethe latest celebrity to suffer a random attackon the streets of New York City. According to theNew York Post, the Brooklyn native, who was a New York City firefighter from 1980 to 1984 and is nowbest-known for his rolesin the likes ofFargo, Reservoir Dogs,andMiracle Workers, was walking through Kips Bay wherehe was struck in the face in broad-daylightin “one of the latest unprovoked assaults in the five boroughs, law enforcement sources told The Post.”
The actor is now sadly suffering “swelling to his face and left eye” and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment shortly afterward. The assailant behind the random attack “took off and is still on the lam, police sources said.”

Buscemi’s publicist has since released a statement saying:
“Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city. He is OK and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to him while also walking the streets of New York.”
The report goes on to reveal that the attack happened around “around 11:48 a.m. Wednesday in front of 369 Third Ave. An onlooker, who asked to be identified as ‘Nat,’ revealed what she saw of the incident to The Post.
“I saw he was with a woman, and then through the corner of the window I saw him trip and fall backwards. He right away got up and ran in the opposite direction. I didn’t see who hit him. It worries me for when we close because we close at 11 and it can get scary around that time.”
