And when she was asked about all the think pieces and cultural commentary that came from right-wing writers and some left-wing ones, following her recent appearance hostingSaturday Night Live,Sweeney succinctly said:
I mean, I can’t control what people write or say about me. I’m just gonna keep being me.

Sweeney’s production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, is behind both the actress’ successful rom-comAnyone but Youand her new macabre adventure inImmaculate.Sweeney was only 16 years old whenImmaculatefirst dropped into her hands 10 years ago, although it was about a schoolgirl instead of a nun then. And Sweeney addressed her persistence in wanting to get the horror film made all these years later. Sweeney also told MovieWeb:
“I was always really captivated by Cecilia’s story arc. She comes from such a small, quiet, pure space and she has to go through such unexpected transformations and journeys. And she unlocks something within herself that you would never see coming. And I always love when a character has to go to a place that’s so unexpected and a challenge for themselves.”

“So, when she was young, she had a near-death experience, and she always questioned why she was saved. She felt like God really touched her in a way and saved her life, and she felt like she owed it to someone greater than who she was. She never really found her place where she grew up, within her family.”

Sydney Sweeney thinks it would “be so cool” to share scenes with a certain actress who is already well-established in Spider-Man’s world.
Sweeney continued:
“She never really felt like she belonged. She felt like an outcast. So, she started going to church and felt a community that she’s never felt before. It grew into something greater than herself. So, she wanted to serve God in a more impactful, meaningful way. She got a hold of different priests that moved her around and then, she wound up in Italy.”
