Sylvester Stallonefans have reacted in shock after the action hero hailedDonald Trumpas being akin to his character of Rocky Balboa, and said that he could be the “next George Washington.”The Expendablesstar was speaking at a black tie event celebrating the new president’s victory against Democrat Kamala Harrisjust over a week ago when he made the comments that left his fans unimpressed.
In the lead up to the election, many stars threw their weight behind one candidate or the other, and there was an unprecedented show of support for Harris, which included anunexpected endorsement from former Republican Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger. However,Stallone was someone who remained very quiet before the votes were counted, but now it seems that everyone knows where his vote was cast. In a speech at the event, Stallone said:

“When I made Rocky, if you remember the first image was a picture of Jesus and it said ‘Resurrection, AC Club’. I found a church that had been converted into a boxing ring. So the image pans down from Jesus on to Rocky being hit and that moment he was the chosen person, and that’s how I began the journey. Something was going to happen, this man was going to go through a metamorphosis and change lives. Just like President Trump.
We’re in the presence of a really mythical character. I love mythology. This individual does not exist on this planet. Nobody in the world could have pulled off what he pulled off, so I’m in awe.”

Sylvester Stallone Says Donald Trump is the New George Washington
As well as making comparisons to his fictional character – something that fits well with the president-elect’s love of discussing made-upcharacters such as Hannibal Lecterduring his campaigning – Stallone also likened him to one of the country’s first presidents, George Washington.
“And I’ll just say this, and I mean it. When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world. Cause without him, you could imagine what the world would look like. Guess what? We got the second George Washington. Congratulations.”

There are certainly many people who believe that Donald Trump is going to change the world, and we cannot yet comprehend what that world will look like after he does, but it seems that fans of Sylvester Stallone don’t really care, as they have just had the rug pulled from under them by their idol. One fan attacked Stallone on social media, saying:

“What the hell @TheSlyStallone.. you have three daughters. How can you support someone who shows nothing but contempt and disrespect towards women?!”
For others, they used Stallone’s good friend Schwarzenegger against him, simply saying,“This is why Arnold is better.”And there were those who have now sworn off ever watching aRockymovie again. That’s show him. But there are always two sides, and Stallone’s speech also garnered support from those who wanted to see Trump back in the White House, and they were happy to praise the actor for“expressing his truth.”But mostly, the sentiment was that Stallone, the hero in many of his movies, has suddenly found himself playing the villain.

Rocky Balboa is a struggling boxer trying to make the big time. Working in a meat factory in Philadelphia for a pittance, he also earns extra cash as a debt collector. When heavyweight champion Apollo Creed visits Philadelphia, his managers want to set up an exhibition match between Creed and a struggling boxer, touting the fight as a chance for a “nobody” to become a “somebody”. The match is supposed to be easily won by Creed, but someone forgot to tell Rocky, who sees this as his only shot at the big time.
