The hunt for the nextJames Bondhas still not really started according to Barbara Broccoli, butTaron Egertonhas frequently been on the edge of many rumors about who could be taking over the coveted role as the next iteration of the super-spy. However, the actor has always denied having been contacted regarding the role, similar to his response to the same rumors about hispossible appearance as Wolverinein the MCU, but he has now elaborated further to explain why he would not fit with the role. Speaking toThe Telegraph, Egerton said:

“I don’t think I’m the right choice for it. You have to be consistently statuesque to be that guy. And that’s something that I am still striving for. I’ve always struggled with my weight. [Playing Bond] is a bit like being a brand ambassador as well as being an actor. And that could be really fun in microcosm, but I’m sure I read that Barbara Broccoli said that it’s a 15-year commitment. It’s sort of irrelevant how I feel about it, anyway, because I can tell you there have been zero phone calls.”

Egerton has already had a taste of being a spy in theKingsmanfranchise, but it seems that he would much rather keep his options open rather than being tied to a decade-long commitment. This sentiment could well also apply to a possible appearance in a prominent role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as whoever takes on roles asX-Mencharacters will have a long run ahead of them.

Taron Egerton Is Gaining Positive Reviews for His Latest Role in Tetris

While it may be hard to imagine how the game ofTetriscould be made into a movie, Taron Egerton’s latest movie for Apple TV+ is here to explain. Rather than being aSuper Mariostyle adaptation, whatever that could look like, the movie focuses on the creation of the video game by programmer Alexei Pazhitnov in the Soviet Union in the 1980s. The film tells of how Henk Rogers (Egerton) then discovered the game in 1988 and risked everything to ensure the game became available to the world.

While on the surface, the movie raised a few eyebrows about how it could possibly be entertaining, the film has been receiving nothing but praise since it debuted at SXSW. With comparisons being made to a Cold War spy thriller, the unlikely title shouldn’t put anyone off as the film seems to be delivering a first-rate movie the likes of which Egerton has been adding to his resume in great volumes.

With Egerton’s greatest accolades coming more and more from his drama and biopic role, it is not surprising that he would not want to necessarily tie himself down to one particular franchiser for a lengthy stint. However, as has been seen on many occasions, things like this can change over time, and until the role of the new 007 has been filled, there will still be more fan theories about Egerton being great for the role despite his reservations.
