Way back in 2012,The Avengersnot only broughtMarvel Phase Oneto a close, but the now-iconicpost-creditscene introduced us to the villain pulling the strings all along, Thanos. It wasn’t until 2014’sGuardians of the Galaxythat we got our first full look at The Mad Titan, played byJosh Brolin, but there is still very little we know about the villain himself. While promotingCaptain America: Civil War, screenwritersChristopher MarkusandStephen McFeelyteased that fans will learn a lot more about Thanos early on inAvengers: Infinity War Part I, which they are also writing. Here’s whatChristopher Markushad to say, when it was mentioned that fans don’t known a whole lot about Thanos up to this point.

“That’s a good point. We don’t get an element of surprise. Everyone knows he’s coming, and yet he hasn’t had terribly many scenes that have illuminated very much about him. You can count on a lot of scenes where we illuminate a lot about him very early.”

Yesterday, directorAnthony Russosaid that both Avengers: Infinity War Part I andAvengers: Infinity War - Part IIwill be the “culmination” of theMarvel Cinematic Universethat has been presented thus far, while revealing that the story will be told from every hero’s perspective. BothAnthony RussoandJoe Russohave insisted that the two-part adventure will feature every MCU character, which presents quite a daunting task for the writers. Here’s whatStephen McFeelyhad to say about how they approached this gigantic storytelling task.

“We still have to take it on a character-by-character basis. The challenge is hanging on to character as motivation when you blow the canvas up to the entire universe. And not to make it seem like all your people look like tiny little video game characters running around. It’s just trying to balance character moments in the middle of big, crazyJim Starlin[creator of theInfinity Gauntletcomic series] action.”

While no specific plot details have been revealed for Avengers: Infinity War Part I andAvengers: Infinity War - Part II, we know it will center onThanos' quest to fill his Infinity Gauntlet with the sixInfinity Stones. Four of these have been introduced thus far, the Space Stone contained in the Tesseract, the Mind Stone, which is currently housed within Vision (Paul Bettany), the Reality Stone, currently housed within The Collector’s (Benicio Del Toro) museum, and the Power Stone, which is in the possession of Nova Corps. We don’t know for sure when the final two stones, the Soul Stone and the Time Stone will be introduced, but it has been hinted that the Time Stone may be the Eye of Agamotto that will be featured inDoctor Strange, hitting theaters November 4. Do you have any theories about how Thanos will be introduced in Avengers: Infinity War Part I?
