The Continental: From the World of John Wickwill tell the background story of how Winston Scott, played on the big screen by Ian McShane and in the series byThe Flight Attendantstar Colin Woodell, came to his position as proprietor of the New York branch of “The Continental” chain of hotels in an alternate history 1970s. The Continental is one of several safe havens for legal assassins on the grounds of which no business may ever take place, and the series explores variations on real-world events, including the Winter of Discontent and the American Mafia’s rise to economic power.

Developed, written, and executive produced by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons,The Continental: From the World of John Wickis all set to be led by Colin Woodell (Ambulance) as the younger version Winston Scott, one of John Wick’s (only) friends and allies, with the series exploring how he came to hold such power and influence over this world of killers.

The rest of the cast behind the series includes Hubert Point-Du Jour (The Good Lord Bird), Jessica Allain (The Laundromat), Mishel Prada (Fear the Walking Dead: Passage), Nhung Kate (The Housemaid), Ben Robson (The Boy, Vikings), Jeremy Bobb (The Outsider, Russian Doll), Katie McGrath (Jurassic World), and Ray McKinnon (Rectify, Deadwood), with Ayomide Adegun starring as a young Charon andMel Gibson starring as a ruthless criminalkingpin named Cormac.

The Continental Will Feature the Kind of Action Expected of the John Wick Saga

Just becauseThe Continental: From the World of John Wickdoes not feature Baba Yaga himself, does not mean the series will scrimp on the action. Speaking recently of the show, director Albert Hughes addressed the difficulty of creating something new within an already beloved franchise, before boasting that the finale of the first season ofThe Continental: From the World of John Wickwillfeature “57 minutes” of non-stop action. “This kind of thing has been done; whether it’s Jon Favreau withStar Warsor Noah Hawley withFargo,” Hughes said, “but not in the same way becauseJohn Wickis unique.”

Executive producer Basil Iwanyk meanwhile adds, “The biggest challenge is how do you make it [stand on] its own. But at the same time, people go, ‘Oh, I know what this is—aJohn WickTV show,’ so I hope we pulled that off.”
