The MCU post-Endgamehas somehow managed to be an even wilder ride than it was before the Avengers saved the entire universe from Thanos, and fans have not been complaining. Even with original key characters like Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow finally meeting their fates, new heroes and villains have emerged to keep the excitement going and have proven that the MCU is nowhere near close to stopping. But even with some of the most beloved and tenured heroes gone, some MCU heroes are still going stronger than ever – one of which is Thor.
The God of Thunder is one of only three remaining original Avengers, the first MCU character to be getting his fourth standalone project, and fans couldn’t be more hyped. With that being said, Thor’s fourth outing,Thor: Love and Thunder, is set to hit theaters on July 30, 2025, and fans have only been treated to a 90-second teaser trailer that dropped last month. Not only was the teaser the longest-waited trailer in the history of the MCU, but it’s now been a month since it was released and an official 150-second trailer has still yet to find its way to the Internet.
So, with only a month and a half until the film is set to hit theaters… where’s all theThor: Love and Thunderfootage?
What We Saw in the Thor 4 Teaser
Let’s start by recapping the brief bits of information that we got from the teaser. In short, it wasn’t much. Basically, the trailer confirmed for audiences what they pretty much already knew, which was thatThor was going to go on a journey of self-enlightenmentin order to figure out where he fits in the universe.
Fans of the MCU and watchers ofEndgamewill remember that Thor left New Asgard with the Guardians of the Galaxy for that very reason. Since this will be the first we’ve seen Thor sinceEndgame, it only makes sense that that’s where the story’s narrative will go.
Other confirmations are thatNatalie Portman will be returning as Jane Fosterand that she’ll be taking up the mantle of Mighty Thor, as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy appearing in the film. Based on the teaser, it seems as though the Guardians won’t have a major role in the movie, but time will tell.
Other than that, not much was confirmed. There was a shot of what can be assumed to be Russell Crowe as Zeus (from behind, so not confirmed) and an apparent creature thatGorr the God Butcher most likely killed, but again, it was all very vague and only left fans aching for more.
Thor 4 Reshoots & Pushbacks
Regular movie-going fans might not be aware of this as much as die-hard MCU fans are, but the MCU had to go through major changes in their schedule (mostly due to the Covid pandemic), and it very much altered a lot of their projects that were in progress at the time. The end result concluded withvirtually every MCU project being put on pauseor going through massive rewrites and re-shoots.Thor: Love and Thunderwas the ladder.
Due toThor 4being pushed back to the date of August 07, 2025 (the original date was August 09, 2025) and a bunch of other MCU projects having to be rewritten and re-shot, that means that the trailer forThor: Love and Thundercan’t come out yet because it literally hasn’t been completed. Benedict Cumberbatch even joked during press for the recentDoctor Strange 2movie that the film might not be finished by the time it was set to release for the very same reasons.

Keeping all of that in mind, fans should probably be happy that they’ve gotten any footage at all. Still, seeing as pre-sale tickets forThor: Love and Thunderare bound to start selling soon, audiences do have a right to know exactly what movie they’re buying a ticket for – and without a trailer, that’s kinda hard to do.
Why No Official Trailer Yet is a Good Thing
Even though fans would love to get just a few more seconds of the God of Thunder to get a glimpse of what adventure he’ll go on next, it’s actually a good thing that Marvel hasn’t released an official trailer yet for multiple reasons. First, as we stated, the film had to go through a lot of reshoots that were only concluded very recently.
With that in mind, it’s only logical that Marvel not release a trailer because the final product of the trailer might not match what the final cut of the film finally ended up being. A trailer is supposed to be a preview of the movie. If the movie is good but doesn’t match the trailer, audiences will still leave the theater confused.

The second reason is that one of the MCU’s biggest critiques in recent years is how much they “lie” in their trailers. Specifically, how they use takes or shots in the trailers that turn out to be different in the final cut of the film (or worse, don’t even make it into the movie at all). With that in mind, it seems as though Marvel might finally be making a conscious effort to keep their trailers in line with what the final product of their movies will be, butfans will just have to wait for an official trailerto see if that holds true.
