The film follows a noble family embroiled in a war for control over the galaxy’s most valuable asset while its heir becomes troubled by visions of a dark future. The film, starring Chalamet,Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, Stellan Skarsgård, Josh Brolin, and Javier Barden, was almost immediately greenlit for a sequel. Fans rejoiced as Zendaya’s character is set to have a more prominent role inDune: Part Two, with limited screen time in the first installment. Chalamet recently spoke toPeople, where he confirmed more from Zendaya in the sequel, calling her “a partner and a sister and a friend.” The actor says, “She hasn’t wrapped yet, and it’s amazing. She’s bringing exactly what she brought to the first one — which was incredible — but in greater abundance.”

Chalamet continues, “I’m so grateful to count her as a partner and a sister and a friend.” Their relationship should grow closer on-screen in the sequel, as his character, Paul Atreides, has finally crossed paths with Zendaya’s Chani. Her character acts as the narrator of the first film and is only briefly seen in Paul’s visions, though Chani will play a significant role in the story to come.
