Back in June, Showtime presidentDavid Nevinsteased that the highly-anticipatedTwin Peaks Season 3is being eyed to debut sometime in spring 2017. Due to the unorthodox nature of the production this season, which was essentially shot like one large movie, the network wouldn’t confirm how many episodes this new season would be, until after the entire season was cut together. There had initially been reports that the show was eyeing an 18-episode expanded order, which was double the network’s original order, and today that 18-episode order has been confirmed. If that wasn’t enough, Showtime has also confirmed the series will debut with a two-hour premiere on Sunday, May 21, but fans won’t have to wait long for the next two episodes. The network also launched a new Tumblr page where fans can submit their own fan artwork.
The official Showtime PR Twitter feed confirmed earlier today that, following theTwin Peaks premiere, the shows third and fourth episodes will be available “immediately following theTwin Peakspremiere on Showtime Streaming, On Demand and the network’s new streaming service, Showtime Anytime.” Showtime network presidentDavid Nevinsconfirmed the news during the network’s TCA Winter Tour presentation today, withDeadlinereveals that the network president said the show is “really happening” and that, “It will be 18 unforgettable hours.”
The network president also admitted that he has already seen the entire season during private screenings held by series creatorDavid Lynch, who was seen reprising his role as Agent Cole in the most recent trailer released last month. Both the network president and programming president wereGary Levinewere treated to donuts before each screening byDavid Lynch, whose Agent Cole character is seen munching on donuts in the trailer. While he would not divulge any plot details,David Nevinsteased that the episodes represent, “the pure-heroin version of David Lynch,” while hinting that, like the original series, this new season, “rewards close watching.”

Filming wrapped on theTwin Peaks revivalback in April, when the full cast of a whopping 217 actors was announced.
