Ever since production began onXXX: The Return of Xander Cage, franchise starVin Dieselhasn’t been shy about sharing videos and photos from the set. Earlier today, the action icon took to hisInstagrampage to share a video with his fans, alongside his co-star Deepika Padukone. While the video is brief, he does issue a bold promise to every fan of the franchise: “You will be entertained.”
If that wasn’t enough, the actor also shared another brief video featuring him working out alongside his co-star, internationalmartial artssuperstarTony Jaa, who is seen sporting a blonde mohawk.Vin Dieselalso shared a few new set photos over the past few days, and directorD.J. Carusohas added a few more shots from the set as well. Hopefully either the actor or director will give us our first look at another martial arts legend,Jet Li, on the set in the near future.
The story centers onVin Diesel’s Xander Cage, who forms a new team filled with ““sexy badasses and comic relief players.” This franchise will follow the same path asVin Diesel’sFast & Furiousfranchise, which has risen to new box office heights since being reconfigured as an action franchise. International action starsTony JaaandJet Lihave joined the cast. It is believed thatJet Limay be playing one of the villains.
Samuel L. Jacksonwill be reprising his role from the originalxXxas Special Agent Augustus Gibbons. Other new cast members include Deepika Padukone,Nina Dobrev,Ruby RoseandConor McGregor. There is also a report thatXXX: State of the UnionstarIce Cubemay also be making an appearance. No other cast members have been confirmed yet, but perhaps we’ll get a full cast list now thatprincipal photographyis under way.
D.J. Caruso(Eagle Eye) is directing from a script byF. Scott Frazier(The Numbers Station).Vin Dieselis producing alongside his sister Samantha Vincent, Jeff Kirschenbaum andJoe Roth. Production is scheduled to take place in Toronto and the Philippines. The sequel doesn’t have a distributor yet, but several sources claim that Paramount Pictures will be the franchise’s new home.
