It’s nothing but good news today forFast & Furiousfans, as starVin Dieselhas shared a new photothat seemingly confirms filming on the next movie has already begun. Diesel took toInstagramyesterday to post a photo (seen below) of Dominic Toretto’s familiar Chevrolet Chevellesandwiched between another classic car and a camera vehicle. The Chevelle has appeared in four movies in the franchise thus far, includingThe Fast and the Furious(2001),Fast & Furious(2009),The Fate of the Furious(2017), and last year’sFast X.

Diesel accompanied the photo with a caption that apparently points to exterior shots being filmed forFast X – Part 2, which is expected to be the final movie in the main franchise. He said that the best thing about filming such sequences is thatthey remind him of where it all began more than 20 years ago.

“The best thing about filming practical exteriors this morning… is all the beautiful memories of shooting the very first Fast. Stay inspired! Happy creative…”

‘Fast and Furious’ Has Been Missing Its Key Ingredient for a Long Time (and It Can’t Get It Back)

The Fast and Furious films are still fun. But a key part of the family is sorely missing.

Diesel’s photo conflicts with earlier reports that filming onFast X – Part 2wouldn’t get underway until early in 2025. As soon as August of this year, Tyrese Gibson said hehadn’t even seen a script yet, and just this month, Jordana Brewster confirmed that she didn’t know when production was going to begin.“I don’t have a timeline,“she told Screen Rant. “I’ll probably read it online, or I’ll try to get some information out of Vin. But, no, I don’t know yet. But hopefully soon.”

What Could Vin Diesel’s Photo Mean For ‘Fast X – Part 2’?

Brewster also mentioned to MovieWeb that ifFast X – Part 2is indeed the last film in the franchise, she’d like to see it “go back to its roots,“a sentiment that is shared by Gibson, who claims the next entry is “taking it back to the streets,” something that he says the fans deserve. Their comments echo those of Diesel’s, who teased the next movie as being “an American road trip,” signifying that things will be toned down a little compared toFast X, which saw Dom and the gang travel everywhere from London to Antarctica.

Diesel’s Instagram photo obviously doesn’t reveal much in the way of plot forFast X – Part 2, but based on what he said, it’s possible that the scene in question could either be a flashback sequence that does take things back to the beginning, or leans into his comments about it being a road trip movie. Up until the 2009 sequel, the muscle cars were front and center in the franchise, but as things got more extreme, they took a backseat to its exotic locales. Remember when Roman and Tej went into space?

Whatever the case may be, it’s exciting to see that things are finally moving ahead on the nextFast & Furiousmovie after a lengthy delay brought on by the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes of last year. While no release date has been confirmed just yet,Fast X – Part 2is expected to debut at some point in 2026.
