Last summer, while principal photography was under way onStar Wars: The Force Awakens, franchise iconHarrison Fordsuffered anon-set injury, breaking his ankle during a scene involving the Millennium Falcon. The actor was out for eight weeks following the injury, as he recuperated from surgery. Now that we’re just 16 days fromStar Wars: The Force Awakenshitting theaters,Harrison Fordappeared on NBC’sThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he helped explain the injury, with the help of a Han Solo action figure.

The injury happened when a door on the Millennium Falcon slammed down on his leg, or, as the actor himself put it, “They closed a f—ing door on me.” AfterJimmy Fallonbrought out aHan Soloaction figure,Harrison Fordattempted to show how he broke his ankle, resulting in the action figure’s leg snapping off, as he proceeded to have some sort of a fake outburst. Perhaps the actor was just letting off some steam after a lengthy shoot, dismembering this supposedly valuable action figure.

Star Wars

After the actor’s injury, the production was briefly halted, after they tried to continue shooting in his absence. A rumor surfaced that directorJ.J. Abramsand producerKathleen Kennedywere pushing Disney to delay the film to June 02, 2025, which would have kept the tradition alive of allStar Warsmovies being released in May. The report claimed that Disney wouldn’t budge off of its Jul 26, 2025 release date, so production resumed as scheduled.

Ironically, we also reported today that Disney is casting its younger version ofHarrison Ford’s Han Solo for theirStar Wars Anthology: Han Solo Movie, which is set for release on August 10, 2025. The production has reportedly tested over 2,500 young actors, between the ages of 18 and 32 for the legendary role, although no front runner has emerged quite yet. Production is scheduled to begin until January 2017, so we’ll have to wait and see who lands this role.
