Werewolf by Nightis showing its claws as the potentially surprise hit of the MCU’s Disney+ offerings to date. As well as its first trailer bringing a delightfully macabre black and whitehomage to the Universal horrors of the 1930s and 1940s, the first reviews of the Marvel Special Presentation has suggested something dark, violent and very unexpected coming this Halloween. With the cast led by Gael Garcia Bernal, the monster mash one-shot is about to tear up the Marvel Studios rulebook and lead down a new, exciting dark path for the franchise.
While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been known for keeping everything family-friendly so far, recently the studio has hinted that things are about to change, with many new characters from across the Marvel spectrum coming home to the mother of the allinterconnected TV and movie universes. That includes the likes of the R-ratedDeadpool 3, the reinvention ofDaredeviland the coming of darker characters such asBladeandMoon Knight.Werewolf by Nightis another example of a supernatural Marvel character who doesn’t quite align with the family-orientated offerings of the big screen.

Now, with just a week to go until the MCU lycanthrope wolfs out on Disney+, the initial reviews of the special have started to roll in, and they have been overwhelmingly positive for what has already been hailed as the best MCU show on Disney+ so far. As noted by one review, this also bodes well for the coming of otherhorror iconssuch asBlade. Check out the reactions below:
