The new trailer forSpider-Man: No Way Homecertainly came with some big reveals and official confirmations, but one big question remains: are Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the movie? At this point, it feels like it’s a given that both actors will appear in the movie when it hits theaters next month, even if nobody involved wants to admit it before then. Fans are still convinced the actors will be back after the new trailer didn’t show either one of them.

Perhaps at least one of those Spider-Men is in the newNo Way Home trailerafter all, or at least a part of him. Fans have already noticed one moment in the trailer where the Lizard is seemingly punched in mid-air by an invisible assailant, causing speculation that Maguire and Garfield were digitally removed from the footage to keep their inclusion a secret. At another moment, fans observed what they thought was a part of Garfield’s arm that wasn’t fully removed from the trailer.

With these things in mind, it stands to reason that the other Spideys are still very likely to appear inSpider-Man: No Way Home. This would also allow forAndrew Garfield’s Peter Parkerto find some redemption after failing to save Gwen Stacy inThe Amazing Spider-Man 2. In the new trailer, Zendaya’s MJ can be seen falling from scaffolding in a moment that calls back to Gwen Stacy’s death. Tom Holland’s Spidey goes after her, but in a separate close-up shot, we can see just the Spider-Hand of aSpider-Manreaching for MJ.

The trailer obviously sets up the scene to look as if it’s the Holland Spidey that saves MJ from suffering the same fate asEmma Stone’s Gwen Stacy. There’s got to be so much more we’re not seeing in that footage, however, and some fans are theorizing that this will actually be Garfield’s Spidey who swoops in to rescue MJ. If true, this could be a way for that Peter to, in a way, get another shot at succeeding where he failed before, even if it’s with different people in an alternate timeline.

Of course, these are all just theories. It’s also just as possible that the Holland Spidey will (hopefully) make the save with the scene more so serving as a callback to what happened with Gwen Stacy inThe Amazing Spider-Man 2. We also have to remember that Garfield’s inclusion is not 100% confirmed, even if it seems more likely than not that he’ll be in the movie alongside Tobey Maguire. He may be contractually obligated to keep quiet, so it’s hard to say for sure, but Garfield has consistently denied his involvement in the movie.

“Listen, I’m not in the film,” the actor recently said on Today. “I loveSpider-Man, I always have. I was so happy to have played the part, and I’m so excited to see what they do with the third one, just like you guys are, to be honest. No, that’s not a diplomatic answer. I really, really mean it. I love Tom Holland. I love Jon Watts. I love Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige and what they’ve done with those movies and that character. It’s an important character to me. So I’m just really excited to see what happens in the third one, as you guys are.”

Spider-Man: No Way Homewill be releasedin theaters on Jun 18, 2025. Until then, fans will just have to keep on guessing about what will really happen in the anticipated feature.
