Mila Kunishas reflected on how impossible it is to think that she hasspent more than half of her life voicing Meg Griffinin Seth MacFarlane’s animated comedy seriesFamily Guy. Despite the series being canceled twice, somehow the Griffins are still putting out new episodes, and that is something Kunis really does not want to see end anytime soon. Speaking toCollideralongside Michael Keaton, with whom she stars in the new comedy movieGoodrich, Kunis said:

“What is it? 26 years? There are no words. Keep in mind though, the show was canceled twice. It is very much like The Little Train That Could. It is the greatest gift. I do text [Seth] MacFarlane every year or two years, whenever our contracts are renegotiated, and I’m like, “Please, let’s just please renegotiate.”

Stewie and Lois in Family Guy

Just likeThe Simpsons, there are many people who believeFamily Guyhas had its day, and the series should just lay down and die. However, that is certainly not how Kunis looks at it, and she has some serious love for playing Meg as long as she can. She continued:

“I’m so in. Let’s not poke the bear. Let’s just do this. I love my gig. I love it. I love that people still watch it. I love that it’s still relevant. I love the fact that the writers are still able to create new and exciting storylines, and people find it funny, more importantly.”

Family Guy Was Saved By Its Fans

It is one thing for a series to avoid cancelation once, butFamily Guyhas narrowly avoided being gone foreveron two separate occasions. As far as Kunis is concerned, the show’s continued existence is all down to the people who watch it and have ensured that it remains on screens. She added:

“Credit to fans. By the way, I only found out I got picked up the second time — this is now 15 years ago; I don’t know what the time is — because I was watching the news. The news ticker was like: Family Guy brought back from cancellation. I was like, “I wonder if I’m back.” I honestly sat there going, “Huh?” I’m looking at my phone, and my phone didn’t ring, so I was like, “I wonder what’s gonna happen!”

Kunis has another reason for loving her work onFamily Guy– the fact that it takes up just one day a month and can work from home. While there are many voice over stars who are required to trek into a recording studio to lay down their lines, Kunis isn’t one of them. She explained:

“Keep in mind Family Guy works like this for me: one Thursday out of the month for, maximum, maybe two hours. It’s funny, and I record in my house; I have a booth at home. So, it’s the greatest gig on the planet.”
